| --> SNETTERTON RESULTS - 19th June 2008 |
|
Leon Camier took his first win in the Bennetts British Superbike Championship in the opening race at Snetterton, in one of the closest races of the season so far. With Shane not far behind him in a respectful second place followed by Tom Sykes in third. Leon and Cal battling for fourth place followed by Laverty in sixth place, Karl Harris took a respectful 8th place follwed by Rutter in ninth. Gary Mason powered in a winning Daily Star Cup double aboard his Quay Garage Honda to underline his credentials for a title challenge as he twice headed off series leading John Laverty.
A downpour just as the riders were heading out on to the grid for race 2 saw confusion in the garages as to what tyres to put on the motorcycles and there was a mixture of full wets and intermediates taking to the Norfolk circuit. Shane Byrne has taken his seventh victory of the season in race two at Snetterton this weekend, follwed by Leon Camier in second. Weather conditions seemed to work in Rutters advantage as he just missed out to the podium in fouth place just behind Crutchlow. Gary Mason took his second British superbike Cup win follwed by Laverty in second place.
Steve Brogan transformed his third pole position into his fourth victory of the season at Snetterton, Norfolk. Jon Kirkham (Raceways Yamaha) stole the holeshot with the chasing pack in hot pursuit over the opening two laps. Ben Wilson, hot off the line from a third row start came under immense pressure from Neill, Storrar, Seeley and Coates being forced back from third to seventh by the close of lap 1.
Steve Plater capped off a remarkable six week period with his first domestic victory for five years, as he took first place honours in a reduced 12 lap British Supersport race at Snetterton this weekend. Pole sitter Glen Richards took the holeshot onboard the M.A.P Embassy Triumph to head an eight-wheel breakaway consisting of Plater, Kennuagh and Centurion Racing's James Westmoreland.Plater and Richards battled for the lead across the finish line should the inevitable rain shower happen to bring about a conclusion to the race. The red flag was deployed and Steve Plater was declared the race victor ahead of Richards and an emotional Westmoreland, scoring his debut Supersport podium. With Steve Brogan languishing down in sixth.
Luke Jones, stamped his authority on the National Superstock 600 series with his third win of the season and the championship lead at Snetterton this weekend.The opening few exchanges saw Hill come under pressure from Lee Johnston's Trevor Pennell Transport Yamaha and championship leader Robbie Brown, as Luke Jones pulled an unassailable two second gap at the head of the field.Johnston finished in second place follwed by Allan jon Ventor in a respectful third.

| --> DONINGTON PARK - 29th May 2008 |
|
RACE REPORT
Rob Mac Racing's Karl Harris completed his first race distances of the season with two solid finishes, elevating him up the scoreboard to start his Championship campaign at Donington Park today (26 May).It was a consistent day for the NW200 Ducati team at Donington Park, Monday 26th May. In the blustery conditions Michael Rutter on the North West 200 Ducati F08 gained two eighth positions in the Bennetts British Superbike series with his team-mate John Laverty on the Buildbase NW200 1098 R Ducati securing a win and second place in the Daily Star Cup races.
Drama unfolded at the start of the fourth round of the Metzeler National Superstock 1000 race at Donington Park as Jon Kirkham's Raceways Yamaha was escorted from the grid at the end of the warm up lap. Steve Brogan put his Honda UK Racing CBR1000RR into the mix, while Jimmy Storrar closed onto the back of Wilson to make it five at the front. An exciting second half to the race unfolded as Brogan took the lead passing both Neill and Seeley on the inside at Melbourne on lap 6. Brogan waved his hand signaling rain as the riders crossed the finish line to start lap 10. However, the race continued with Coates forcing his Dyer Crossgills Racing Yamaha under Brogan into McLeans. Brogan instantly fought back, winning the battle of the late brakers on the run into the Foggy Esses, retaking second place. Steve Brogan maintains his championship lead as the riders take a well earned two weekend break before round five at Snetterton (13-15 June).
World supersport stars Jonathan Rea and Andrew Pitt have been excluded from the British Supersport result sheet after it was found they had used WSS-spec fuel and not BSB-spec fuel.
The Ten Kate men had been pressed right to the end by Relentless Suzuki's Ian Lowry which now means Ian takes 25 points for the win and Glen Richards takes 20. Craig Fitzpatrick took the race win for the Cup Championship.
Robbie Brown held off the challenge of Lee Johnston to secure a dramatic win at Donington Park this bank holiday. In a closely fought race, the front three of Brown, Johnston and Allan Jon Venter pulled away from the chasing pack in the closing stages and coming into the final corner there was nothing to separate them. It was Brown who claimed the win, after riding defensively for much of the race distance in an attempt to protect his deserved lead.
UK1 Racing Ltd rider Luke Jones had to settle for fifth place after MSS Colchester Kawasaki man Jamie Hamilton emerged victorious in the race for fourth.

| --> AMCA Championship Round 1 Progress Report By Brad Oleary. - 29th May 2008 |
|
Saturday:
As we arrived at Cleobury Mortimer we were greeted by a first class circuit presented in a first class manner, the scene was set for a great weekend!!
Sunday:
Over night and constant rain left the circuit in a wet and sticky condition.
My qualifying session went well with a steady qualifying position of 12th. I was happy with this considering I was cruising round and just riding smoothly. I was happy with the bike set-up, the team was working well and this promised for a positive days racing.
Race 1:
As the gate dropped for race one i realised I didn't get the best of jumps so I had to keep the power on and move into the top five around the outside down the first big hill into the first turn. It was soon clear that the constant rain had deteriorated the track somewhat thus meaning it was a case of staying on two wheels. As the first lap came to an end i was in fourth position, behind Campbell, Davis and Fish. I also had Saunders behind me for company, Fish fell early on and Saunders came by and i was back to fourth again. As the minutes past the four of us pulled a large lead on the rest of the field. The chequered flag came out to Campbell, Saunders, Davis then myself, the four of us divided by only four seconds.
Race 2 :
My second moto start was pretty much similar to the first but i was down in around sixth, knowing i had some work to do i steadily put my head down and applied gentle pressure to the riders in front. First i was to pass Hollis, then pressured Saunders and Powell into mistakes which put me into third. Out front was Davis and Campbell and also out of my reach, so i settled down and enjoyed the mud and rode home safe for third.
Race 3 :
Cancelled!
Final words
Finishing third on the day is a result I'm very happy with, the season is long and this perfect start puts me in a great position and also a great confidence boost. The ktm 450 was working awesome as usual as was the whole set up, a massive thanks to the team who really worked hard in the terrible conditions.

| --> Relentless Suzuki MX Team battle it out in Spain - 29th May 2008 |
|
The Relentless Suzuki MX team was out in action again at the weekend, this time at the combined World and European MX3 Championships at Alhama de Murcia in Spain.
Following an encouraging performance from Lewis Gregory at the last round in Portugal just one week ago, teammate Jamie Law would join in on the action this time, making his debut in the European Championships.
After a disappointing start in qualifying where Jamie qualified in 22nd position, the following day would see different track conditions due to overnight watering. Making a good start in the slippery conditions, Jamie was up to 11th spot by the end of lap one of the first race, eventually settling for a respectable 15th spot at the flag, after a battle in the final stages of the race. Race two would see a less successful start, leaving the Suzuki rider fighting for the whole of the race to finish in 18th position.
European regular Lewis Gregory started his weekend off in contrasting style, earning his best ever qualification position of ninth place. Unfortunately mediocre starts were his undoing, and with the conditions making it tricky to pass Lewis' frustration led to a costly mistake in race one leaving him finishing outside of the points. Keen to correct things in race two, Lewis managed to fight his way to 13th place at the flag - a great result considering he was brought down in a multi-rider pile-up and had to fight back from a lowly 35th place.
Completing his European debut, Jamie Law flew home to the UK on Sunday night to take part in the traditional Bank Holiday Monday motocross at Bassenthwaite in the Lake District, where despite entering his third day of hard competition, Jamie won the event overall with a second place and two race wins.
Both Lewis and Jamie will now begin preparations for their entry in the British Grand Prix at Mallory Park this weekend.

| --> NORTH WEST 200 - 20th May 2008 |
|
Steve Plater is being hailed as the King of the Roads after riding to a win in each of the two Supersport races, setting a new lap record and securing his third successive victory in the feature race at the North West 200 meeting in Ireland on Saturday. After encountering a few stability problems in qualifying, Plater started the race from a second row grid position but the warm up lap threw up some very different problems. By the end of lap one he was in fifth place but up with the leading group. He was battling with Michael Rutter for third throughout lap two but Rutter eventually got the better of him and edged further towards the front. As they crossed the finish line there was only a second separating the first four riders with Rutter taking the win from Guy Martin, John McGuinness and Plater just two tenths of a second behind in a very close fourth place. Next up was the Club SOL Portrush Supersport race and Plater made a start from pole position. He didn't manage to capitalise on his front row start and lost ground, but was soon back in contention in third place. Going into the final lap it was Plater that had shot to the front ahead of Alistair Seeley, Bruce Anstey and his AIM team mate Ian Hutchinson with Ian Lougher tagged onto the back. The group encountered some backmarkers and Steve was able to break the tow and pull a small gap leaving the other four contenders to chase after him. Plater maintained his lead and crossed the finish line with a three second advantage over Seeley and Lougher to take his first ever class win at the NW200 beating Bruce Anstey's existing lap record by nearly two seconds with a lap of 4m 30.792s - 119.197mph set on the last of the five laps.
Later in the day Steve took to the grid for the feature race of the day, The Blackhorse Motorcycle Finance NW200 Superbike race, which he had won in both 2006 and 2007. Plater made a good start on lap one of six and slotted into second place at University Corner but on the run to Metropole was pushed back to fifth behind Michael Rutter. But Plater was hungry for the win and on lap two used every inch of the road to blast past both Rutter and McGuinness into third place. Lap four saw race leader Guy Martin touring with a problem and Plater was quick to take the advantage and take command at the front. He could sniff the victory and tried to put some distance between himself and the following riders but was drafted by Bruce Anstey along the long fast straight on the run towards Metropole. Six riders were covered by less than a couple of seconds and anyone of them was in for a shout of the win. On the final lap Plater was shuffled back to third place but drafted back past Rutter and Cameron Donald to take the lead and held on for grim life to take the chequered flag for his third successive win in the prestigious event. Plater had little time for the podium celebrations, as he was straight back out on track for the final race of the day. But the race was red flagged after the first lap when Guy Martin crashed unhurt at Black Hill. At the restart Hutchinson was first to show his hand and led the field around Bally Sally roundabout. But Plater was in his tyre tracks and forged ahead as they sped towards Metropole. There followed a mighty battle of wits between Plater, Hutchinson Seeley and Steve Brogan all trying to draft each other along the straights. The group were separated by less than 1 ½ seconds with the two AIM Yamaha riders in the thick of the action. Eventually they were joined by Keith Amor and Ian Lougher and it was anyone's guess as to the outcome. Hutchinson was seen to slow and retire with a burst water hose leaving the way clear for Plater to head the pack. As the group hurtled towards the final chicane it was Plater who had a slight advantage and he crossed the finish line to take his third win of the day ahead of Seeley and Lougher.

| --> JOSH SPINKS! - 29th April 2008 |
|
The Redline KTM Motocross team, with number one rider Josh Spinks, arrived at a dry Mildenhall circuit, a stark contrast to round 1 in Ireland where the torrential rain turned it into a muddy lottery.With the second round of the British MXY2
Championship again a mud bath, the team were hoping to regain the form Josh showed at the opening round of the British MXY2 Championship at Donington Park where he managed a win in race two and fulfil his potential at the front of the field.
Unfortunately Josh isn’t getting the run of luck he needs to get back on top and it’s not through the lack of trying.Qualifying an encouraging 5th giving him a good pick of gate and a top ten start picking his way up to fifth place. At last it looked like this could be the performance he has been waiting for as the top four were in his sights. Clearly
being held up by the rider in front Josh took the outside of the jump to take fourth place but was T-boned off the track as the rider cut straight across him in mid air. Battered and bruised he quickly remounted to pull himself up to a disappointing but creditible thirteenth.
This kind of luck set the scene for the rest of the day. The second race Josh gated in fifth place and again looked like he was comfortable to pick his way through to the front, but again was taken down and had to pull himself up from the back of the pack to twelth place. With the team unhappy with the race bike, Josh took his practice bike out in the last race and tried to ride a more
defensive race to get some points on the board. This race he miss timed the gate but managed to get round the first corner in thirteenth place and settled into a rythmn to pick his way up to an incident free seventh place. His race speed proved fast enough to win had the circumstances been different and the team are taking the view that he has had his share of bad luck and the next rounds he will be looking to get back on the podium.
If it is any concellation all his rivals were struggling with Elderfield posting a win, 8th and dnf.

| --> Thruxton Results - 21st April 2008 |
|
K-Tech have had an expensive weekend at Thruxton this weekend as riders signed up to our contgency awards had great results! As the results speak for themselves it goes to show the contigency plan is well worth awarding to the top three podium riders. With the top 11 riders using K-Tech product in the British Supersport Championship. Steve Brogan and Glen Richards battled it out for first place but Richards eventually lost by 0.09 seconds. Chris Martin followed in 3rd place. Reigning British 125 Champion Luke Jones made a dream start to his Superstock 600 campaign as he overcame a disappointing third row qualification position to take victory by 5.6 seconds and setting fastest lap (1m 20.603s) in the final race of the meeting, on the RDL UK1 entered Yamaha YZF R6. Steve Brogan onboard the Honda UK Racing entered Fireblade took the victory by 0.1s ahead of Raceways Yamaha's Jon Kirkham in a thrilling race held in near perfect conditions yesterday afternoon. Jon Kirkham punched the air in delighted fashion as he exited Thruxton's notorious Club chicane for the final time, crossing the finish line 6.569s ahead of the chasing field, in the weekends inaugural Henderson R1 Cup race.The NW200 Ducati team secured a stunning start to the Bennett British Superbike season at Thruxton Circuit. John Laverty winning both Daily Star Cup races, and Rutter taking two fantastic 3rd positions.
John Laverty said "I'm really pleased to have got the first races under my belt and I now have a comfortable 20-point lead in the Daily Star Cup series. The bike felt brilliant all weekend and considering I'm still on a very much standard road bike I'm very happy where I ended up in the main Championship. I was having a battle with my brother Michael throughout the weekend and hopefully I'll be able to get the better of him at some point. I'd like to thank all my team for working as hard as they have and they deserve this result."

| --> BRAD OLEARY'S AMCA SUPERCLASS 2008 ROUND 1 @ POLESWORTH PROGRESS REPORT - 12th March 2008 |
|
Practise/ Qualifying
Overnight rain left the polesworth circuit in mint condition, these were the thoughts i had as i was cruising round the first lap of practise.
I put together a smooth 20 minutes of steady riding and re adjusting to the bigger bike. I pushed in places where i felt comfortable and took it as practise more than qualifying. The time i posted put me in 8th position which was good as i was only cruising.
Race 1
As the gate dropped for the first race i got a slight bit of wheel spin but the beast soon gripped and flew me into the lead and a lovely holeshot. I settled quickly and tried to flow and ride the track as much as possible. I fought off some early challenges from Aaron Poolman and the chasing pack, As the race progressed i felt in control and very happy with everything. I once again fought off a challenge from Ben Saunders on the last two laps and we crossed the line virtually together. It was the perfect start to the day.
Race 2
The second race got underway and i didn't grab the best of starts, as we entered the first corner riders went down causing havoc, i avoided these riders but in doing so dropped to 5th. During this race i clawed my way through the field and into 2nd, the leader (Saunders) was around 15 seconds ahead so i decided to settle and ride home in a safe second.
Race 3
Again my final start wasn't so good so it was time to play catch up again, until i got took down by a fallen rider and having to come from the back once more, as i was breaking into the top 10 i was also feeling the strain. I would've settled there but the determination in me said push on and yeah you guessed it i slipped off all on my own and undoing all the hard work I'd just done. Finishing just outside the top 15, i was gutted in the result but smiling from ear to ear with mine and the teams performance.

| --> Brad Oleary's AMCA's Champion! - 8th October 2007 |
|
Brad O Leary's progress report on AMCA championship at Nympsfiled.
Qualifying went well for him posting some quick laps qhich put him in a good stead for the race. he qualified 5th in which he was very happy abo
In Race 1 he managed to get too much grip coming out of the gate, so he was down in 9th position on lap one. He was thrilled with the circuit so he reeled in the riders in front and gained some places. He then managed to take the lead with four laps remaining and this is where he stayed unitl the finish flag!
In Race 2 he had a much better start to race one and was 2nd into the first turn and into the lead by lap two. He put some smooth laps together and stayed in control of the race all the way to the finish.
Finally in Race 3 with two great rides out the way, all he had to do was finish in the top 14 to secure his third champoinship. Although he still wanted to win. His start was ok he was around 6th
'' So i was happy to settle here but my pace was faster than the riders in front of me, so i pushed through into 2nd and crossed the line in 3rd for my third AMCA125cc Championship title.''
Congratulations to Brad for his Championship title!

Sykes Storms To Debut Pole
Stobart Vent Axia VK Honda rider Tom Sykes continued his tremendous 2007 form by storming to his debut pole position at the penultimate round of the Bennetts British Superbike Championship at Donington Park today. Following on from successful podiums at Croft and Cadwell last month, the 21 year old Yorkshireman put in a lap of 1m 30.901s which was under the existing lap record and as a result will start tomorrow’s two 20 lap races from pole position.
Michael Rutter gave the Isilon MSS Discovery Kawasaki team something to smile about at Donington Park this weekend with a pair of top ten finishes aboard his Ninja ZX-10R. The 34-year-old’s 9th and 8th places in the two Bennetts British Superbike races did something to erase the pain of his young team-mate’s bad-luck in the MAXXIS British Supersport race. 18-year-old James Webb ended up in the gravel in the first turn after a collision with another rider, continuing the Kent rider’s poor run of luck on race-day after an impressive qualifying performance.
Triple Podium Joy For Team Stobart

| --> Brad Oleary's AMCA Championship Round 7 @ Waterstone - 10th September 2007 |
|
Brad Oleary - Progress Report
Qualifying- With the circuit being pretty fast it was tricky to put in a fastlap because of traffic. By half way through qualifying, i had put in a steady 9th position so i came in for a drink and to discuss some lines with my mechanics. I went back out and rode some different lines and put in a fast lap, that put me 2nd which i was happy about.
Race 1- Just before the first race the track was heavily watered so a good start was crucial. As the gate dropped i thought i had the holeshot but got pushed wide into the first turn so i was 2nd, i made an early pass for the lead and put some steady laps in. I made a small mistake mid way through the race which cost me the lead, i composed myself and was back in front within 2 laps. i pulled a nice lead and crossed the line for the win.
Race 2- Again i got a great jump out the start and was soon in the lead and feeling comfortable. Apart from a couple of small mistakes this race was really smooth and steady. i cruised over the line for my second win of the day.
Race 3- I pulled another great start in moto 3 and into the lead going down te first big hill, i had the championship leader right on my tail from the first lap, i rode causiously and protected my lines. He was trying everything to get passed me and this provided some excellent racing, then with 3 laps remaining he fell and this allowed me to pull some vital points back in the championship. I once again crossed the line in the lead and with a massive smile on my face, which i'm still wearing now hours later.
I'm over the moon about today because i was 40 odd points down going into todays meeting and i'm now 9 points in the lead going into the final round, which is in 4 weeks at Nympsfield.
Welldone to Brad for his wins at Walterstone! Lets hope to see a similar pattren in the final round!

| --> GREGORY & SNOW RELENTLESS AT BRAMPTON - 21st August 2007 |
|
It was a weekend of top-ten action for the Team Relentless Suzuki riders at Brampton in Cumbria this weekend, as round seven of the British Championship commenced.
With all three team riders looking for championship progress, Alex Snow was the first to climb into the points, riding strongly and consistently in race one to cross the line in eighth spot.
Team-mate Lewis Gregory had even higher hopes early in the first race, gating well and chasing down the eventual podium sitters, before becoming stuck in a mud-hole and dropping to 12th place by the flag. Despite encouraging progress, Jamie Law crashed out of race one and never quite managed to regain composure.
Race two was to see a reverse of fate for Snow and Gregory, after Alex damaged his gear lever in a rut and dropped to 22nd by the finish line. An improved start in race two saw Lewis at the sharp end of the race, before a small slip saw him cross the line in eighth position.
Team manager Rob Hooper commented, “Despite a few set-backs it was an encouraging weekend for us. Jamie’s crash didn’t help his confidents, but Alex and Lewis showed they have the speed, and can run at the sharp end of what is a fiercely competitive class this year.
As well as competition in the British Championship, Lewis and Alex competed in the UK Floodlit Motocross Series at Hopwood Park last Wednesday taking the overall win and third place respectively.
And at schoolboy level, Relentless Suzuki supported rider Ben Field became the BSMA Senior Final Champion, following four wins and a third place result at the Brookthorpe circuit.

AMCA Championship Round 4
Qualifying - Brad qualified 9th on a tight twisty circuit maiking it impossible to get a clear lap.He went from 1st into 2nd and then down to 10th, the times were all within three seconds.
''I knew that a good start would be crucial''
Race 1- He was 2nd coming round the first turn, this is where he made his move into the lead where he stayed untroubled for the duration of the race. He put in the fastest lap closing the gap on the fastest leader.
Race 2- Feeling confident with his first race win he was looking for another, only gating about 8th he worked his way to 3rd place and was happy to be concistent and in the top 3.
Race 3- Again not having the best of starts this was a repeat of race 2, he worked his way to 3rd place and this is where he stayed.
''More importantly the series leader didn't finish the final moto, so now i'm one point in the lead in the series at the half way stage.I'm confident i can stay here with some consistency and using my brain.''

| --> Debut Victory for McConnell at Croft - 13th August 2007 |
|
Virgin Media Yamaha's Billy McConnell finally realised his full potential in the Supersport class as he transformed pole position into a last gasp debut victory at Croft today, 12 August.
Lining up for his third pole position of the season, Billy tucked in behind Ian Lowry who stole the holeshot from the lights. A Steve Allan crash on the first lap brought the safety car out for two laps. Billy knuckled down as Lowry got the green light as the riders crossed the line for the start of the fourth circulation.
Michael Laverty swooped through to claim third from the Yamaha rider on the fifth lap, as a six-wheel Pirelli freight train led the field. The pace began to hot up towards mid-race distance with first Billy then Lowry breaking the lap record. As lap 11 began to unfold, Laverty suffered a technical problem leaving Billy with clear track between himself and race leader Lowry.
The final few laps produced a nail-biting climax as Billy pushed his Yamaha and Pirelli tyres to the limit holding off the advances of Dennis Hobbs whilst closing the gap to Lowry.
Lowry ran wide into the hairpin on the penultimate lap and Billy knew that his opportunity would soon arise as he was now close enough to smell the fumes from the Suzuki's exhaust. Braking for the run in to Tower, Billy took the inside line, making a clean pass and holding firm through to Jim Clark Esses and the final sector of the race.
A jubilant McConnell took the chequered flag with a new lap record of 1:22.689s, and both his and Virgin Media Yamaha's maiden win in the fiercely contested British Supersport series.
Team-mate, Tom Grant recorded another valuable nine points towards his Championship total, taking the chequered flag in a lonely seventh position. With 25 points secured for the win, Billy moves up the Championship table into fifth.
Billy McConnell: "At last, it's so great to repay Rob and the team with a win. It's a big thing for us as we all work so hard to make it work and to support each other. We'd had a tough day with Tommy crashing but to lift the team spirit with our first Supersport win is an honour. I'm absolutely chuffed, my Dad is here from Australia at the moment so it makes it even sweeter."
Tom Grant: "I struggled to match the pace of the guys ahead of me today and had a really mediocre ride. It's so frustrating but I'm looking ahead to Cadwell. I'm delighted for Billy's win, he's been on the pace all weekend and rode really hard for it."
Rob McElnea, Team Principal: "Everybody is relieved that Billy got his first win, it's our just reward for everyone's hard work. Having been riding under a caution for the last three races it's great for Billy to ride without a cloud over him and prove what he can do. The whole weekend has been really solid for him, he hasn't been off the top of the timesheets in any session. It's great for all the team and the first Supersport win for Yamaha in four years. We thank Pirelli for all their hard work to get us there."

5. Stuart Easton

| --> DOUBLE PODIUM FOR SUPER SYKES - 13th August 2007 |
|
Stobart VK Vent Axia Motorsport rider Tom Sykes emerged from his local circuit of Croft with a superb double podium in both of today’s 20 lap Bennetts British Superbike Championship races.
After qualifying on the front row of the grid, the 21 year old Yorkshireman ran with the leading bunch in both races as rain clouds threatened overhead, but showing maturity beyond his years, Sykes muscled his way up on to the podium in front of another bumper BSB crowd.
The result moves him up to sixth in the Championship going into the next round at Cadwell Park in two weeks time.
But if Croft was a success for Sykes, then for team mate Shane ‘Shakey’ Byrne it didn’t reap the rewards he was hoping for.
The 30 year old Londoner suffered two crashes during qualifying and was hampered by a row three start but he salvaged a couple of top ten positions from the weekend to remain in fifth position in the Championship.
The next round of the Championship takes place at Cadwell Park, Lincolnshire over the bank holiday weekend.
Tom Sykes: “It’s great to repay the team with a double podium and I’m over the moon. I got a good start in both races and in the first race I realised I had a little bit left and thought about going for second but it was a bit of a do or die manoeuvre and I didn’t want to risk anything. I felt quite comfortable in the second race but I knew Greg Lavilla was going to have a go at the hairpin but I held him off and it was brilliant to get on the podium again. Thanks to the whole team and to Dunlop for their support. Hopefully we can carry this momentum on for the next round.”
Shane Byrne: “Unfortunately today, that was all I had to give. The two crashes yesterday didn’t help, but all credit to the boys who worked really hard to get the bikes ready, I had hoped to repay them with a podium. The first race was a nightmare but the second one started off OK but then I just dropped off and it got harder and harder. We’ve got ten days off now so I’m going home to get my head together, do some training and come back to Cadwell Park back on form.”
Paul Bird: “I’m absolutely made up for Tom, the kid deserves this so much and I’m really pleased for him and to do it at a local track is magnificent for the team, the sponsors and the fans. It didn’t work out for Shakey this weekend but that sometimes happens and I’m looking forward to both of the boys being on the podium at Cadwell.”

Stobart Vent Axia Motorsport rider Shane ‘Shakey’ Byrne took his first victory of the season in a dramatic round nine of the British Superbike Championship held at Mallory Park.

Team mate Tom Sykes started off with a couple of bad starts which cost him the chance of a podium, but he continued his good form with another pair of top six places with a sixth in race one followed by a fourth in race two.

Once again the weather poured down on us at the weekend. But it didn't stop Ian Hutchinson Receiving his first ever MAXXIS British Supersport victory at the weekend battling it out with the poor weather conditions.
He was lucky it wasn't all over before it had even begun. His Bike Animal Honda jumped forwads on the start line, luckily enough
he managed to pull the bike back just in the nick of time before the lights went out. Narrowly avoiding a ride-through penalty.
Within the first lap McGuinness and Hutchinson had broken away at the front, with Hutchinson breaking through into the lead.
McGuiness was closing in on Hutchinson, but he put up a fight holding the gap to just over six seconds at the flag.

| --> Maximum Solutions Suzuki RM250 vs The Iron Giant - 11th July 2007 |
|
Paul Edmondson made a last minute decision to attend the Erzberg Rodeo at the weekend.
When the Prologue times were released the team was pleased to see that Paul had taken the RM250 up the hill in 8th place (and 2nd 2 stroke). With his qualifying position safe the team made slight jetting and suspension changes, they fitted the RM250 with 14/44 gearing and waited for Saturday’s run.
The team knew that the altitude towards the end of the run was going to be a problem but the RM’s stability and the K-Tech suspension’s ability to put the power on the ground allowing Paul to carry the higher speed of the raised gearing and he bettered his time by 17 seconds and placed 6th fastest – with a time of only 19seconds slower than the winning Kings Race rider.
